Lucinda Williams seldom delivers anything less than “solid-to-great” roots rock drenched in the blues. This album sure is solid, and contains few fillers, but at the same time lacks a real standout (or two) song.
.. and I really love the B-3 Hammond organ giving the sound of these songs a lovely touch. Her “Car Wheels on A Gravel Road” (1998) is still one of the finest albums of it’s decade (easily top 10), and it would be unfair to compare later albums to that milestone.. but on some level it’s hard not to.. (just had to mention it)
