As far as I know all my spotify playlists are public.
My profile settings has always been “Automatically make playlists public”…
I have subscribers to many of my playlists… but there could be something fishy going on (another friend also complained that he couldn’t browse my spotify playlists)
If you know of a setting in spotify that I might be missing… please advice 🙂

Very nice, good list. Notice there are no songs on the list written in the new century (though 4 of the top 10 are not from the 60’s!), despite the acclaim that Bob’s albums have received. It’ll be interesting to see over the years if this just reflects a generational bias and younger people today will of course list “Ain’t Talkin'” or “Pay in Blood” or others from recent albums as some of the best.

Ok, very fluid of course…and filtering through different performances, I based some choices on that,,,see any related comment.
1. Blind Willie McTell – both ‘studio’ versions, finally played live 1997 (love them all), great writing, great story…power and greed and corruptible seed (we ALL should be singing these blues)
2 . Like a Rolling Stone – the single, the live 74, my personal ‘Bob looked at me’ song 1990, innumerable radio blasts while driving….really, how DOES it feel? loses a point for the Isle of Wight version
3. It’s Alright Ma, I’m only Bleeding – so so many great quotable lines (tho the President must stand naked is now over-hyped). One of my first, oh my god tunes…like hammer meets nail sort of thing.
4. Visions of Johanna – just a ghost of a song, those bones in that electricity. Fav live one was in Toledo 2004.
5. It’s a Hard Rain A-gonna Fall – the Freewheelin’ version is nice, but the early live one from Gaslight is way better, and of course the Nara one from Japan 1994 was total awesomeness. I made up a cd of 12 different Bob versions of this song, it never gets boring, you don’t even realize you’re hearing the same song so many times in a row.
6. Tangled Up in Blue – love the lyric changes, “I don’t even drink beer” Phoenix 2004, the Rolling Thunder video ‘eye’ dance thing, this song heralds spring to me just as ‘Here Comes the Sun’ from the Beatles does, the 1996 versions are killer.
7. It Ain’t Me Babe – the song that pushed me over the edge was the live Rolling Thunder one in 1975. Been hard core ever since. It was that blast on the harp that did it.
8. I’m Not There (1956) – haunting word forms out of the mist…I think I liked it more before it became a movie though
9. Born in Time – simply gorgeous, and I love the lyric variations. The ones on Tell Tale Signs are better the the Under the Red Sky one, but man, I love this song.
10. tie – Love Sick, Not Dark Yet, and Can’t Wait…love this whole album (tho I find Dirt Road Blues sorta out of place/sequence so I tend to skip it), The slow sinister Can’t Wait off of Tell Tale Signs would win in a pushing match I guess.
Barbara Allen would be up in there too, but Bob didn’t write it, but it sure opened a world to me.
