Go ’way from my window
Leave at your own chosen speed
I’m not the one you want, babe
I’m not the one you need
You say you’re lookin’ for someone
Never weak but always strong
To protect you an’ defend you
Whether you are right or wrong
Someone to open each and every door
But it ain’t me, babe
No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe
It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe

For once, Dylan responds to the importance of the event by delivering a tight, powerful set.

  • Bucky Baxter (pedal steel guitar & electric slide guitar)
  • John Jackson (guitar)
  • Tony Garnier (bass)
  • Winston Watson (drums & percussion)

Go lightly from the ledge, babe
Go lightly on the ground
I’m not the one you want, babe
I will only let you down
You say you’re lookin’ for someone
Who will promise never to part
Someone to close his eyes for you
Someone to close his heart
Someone who will die for you an’ more
But it ain’t me, babe
No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe
It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe

Go melt back into the night, babe
Everything inside is made of stone
There’s nothing in here moving
An’ anyway I’m not alone
You say you’re lookin’ for someone
Who’ll pick you up each time you fall
To gather flowers constantly
An’ to come each time you call
A lover for your life an’ nothing more
But it ain’t me, babe
No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe
It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe

  1. This is a really great performance, both vocally and by the band. His hamonica playing was really on point, I thought. Extra kudos to the band for their attempt to end the song cleanly. I noticed about 8 different times during Bob’s guitar solo where the band tried to end the song. We all know Dylan does what the fuck he wants. The song ends when he’s done. Perfect.

  2. I Think JUST LIKE A WOMAN & MASTERS OF WAR were the highlights of the set. I was never a fan of the extended instrumental improvisations that Dylan seemed to get into during this period which turned goodish performances of songs into something rather long & tedious Consequently IT AIN’T ME BABE in particular suffers from this. Its a shame because 1994 was a stepup from the 1991-1993 period in terms of Live performance .
