May 16: Bob Dylan & The Hawks: Gaumont Theatre, Sheffield 1966

…The Sheffield show is perhaps the best of the tour. The quality is incredible, and the performance can move you to tears. The Gaumont adds a warmth and depth to the overall sound that is lacking at many venues, and Bob pours his heart into every syllable. This set represents some of the finest of the tour…

  1. Thanks for this wonderful post .. Am I missing something or is the rest of the concert available here or anywhere else. I would love to get it all if possible…

  2. Hi there,

I’m researching a radio documentary about Dylan and the crucial day of May 16th 1966. If you were at this concert in Sheffield or remember getting your ears on ‘Blonde on Blonde’ the day it was released, please get in touch

    [email protected]

Look forward to hearing from you.

  3. thank you so much your post here is so much appreciated I saw Dylan for the first time at Leicester de monftfort the year before I think . but the Sheffield show sound is incredible ” Just Like a Woman” has taken my breath away , I have now played it several times in wonder

  4. Thank You So Very Much! BLOODY EXCELLENT! the Sheffield show on 5-16-66 was a real treat to hear. Good job with the vids, as well. As you said , The Gaumont was indeed an excellent venue. One truly enjoyable evening. You can now start to hear the crowds getting rowdy and belligerent. Best sound ever here. I can’t tell how how elated I am to have enjoyed these Dylan shows. Well, I guess it’s onward to Manchester! We all know what awaits Bob there. Thanks again & Remember I Was A Baby Once! Peace Be with You! Sincerely, SMRZ!!
