The Best Bob Dylan covers: Chris Robinson Brotherhood It’s All Over now Baby Blue

Chris Robinson Brotherhood is an American blues rock band formed in 2011 by Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson while The Black Crowes were on hiatus. The band has released four studio albums: Big Moon Ritual, The Magic Door, Phosphorescent Harvest, and Any Way You Love, We Know How You Feel. The band consists of Robinson, guitarist Neal Casal, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, bassist Jeff Hill (who replaced original bassist Mark Dutton in 2016), and drummer Tony Leone (who replaced original drummer George Sluppick in January 2015).

They’re playing in Norway next year (for the first time?) and I’m going to Oslo to see them!

They’ve played this classic Bob Dylan song for a few years, and their take on it is tremendous. They’ve given the song some real southern swagger.

Bob Dylan @ Ljubljana, Slovenia – April 28, 1999 (Audio)

Fantastic soundboard recording of a great show. .. The acoustic versions of Tambourine Man,  Hard Rain and, particularly, It’s All Over Now Baby Blue (where he places all the emphasis on “All” when singing the title-line) are stunning.

You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last
But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast
Yonder stands your orphan with his gun
Crying like a fire in the sun
Look out the saints are comin’ through
And it’s all over now, Baby Blue

May 5: Bob Dylan concert in Dublin 1966 (audio)

CBS records this concert. A PA recording of the acoustic half of the show is subsequently widely bootlegged. The extant tape features “Visions of Johanna,” “Fourth Time Around,” “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue,” “Desolation Row,” “Just Like a Woman,” and “Mr. Tambourine Man” (but not “She Belongs to Me,” presumably performed). Although the acoustic set seems to be well received, the audience is hostile throughout the electric set. One review of the show is headlined “Night of the Big Let Down.” According to Robbie Robertson, some of the audience were even holding up placards saying “Stop the War.” A recording of “I Don’t Believe You” from the electric set is eventually released on the Biograph set, incorrectly assigned to Belfast.
