5 Great Cover Versions of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” (Adele, Billy Joel, Bryan Ferry and..)

Redirecting to a newer version of this post….

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

Make You Feel My Love” is a song written by Bob Dylan from his album Time Out of Mind (1997). It was first released commercially by Billy Joel, under the title “To Make You Feel My Love“, before Dylan’s version appeared later that same year. It has since been covered by numerous performers..

When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
Oh, I hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

Adele
Released October 27, 2008

I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I will never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong

I’d go hungry; I’d go black and blue
And I’d go crawling down the avenue
No, there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love

Billy Joel
Released August 1997

The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothing like me yet

Bryan Ferry
Released March 5, 2007

I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of this Earth for you
To make you feel my love, oh yes
To make you feel my love

Trisha Yearwood

(Probably my favourite cover version)

  1. Proof that this album is an absolute masterpiece. From start to finish. The only reason I paid $100 for “tell tale signs”. ( 3 disc, by the way).

  2. One of my favourite love songs.
One of those where the composers version is amongst worse.
Bryan Ferrys version is far best and then my own live version (you tube) from 2014.
    Yes.
And I’m not crazy. It is great folks.
Go and check it up yourselves

  3. I saw him in person once in Chicago. Time goes by so fast. The young ones in the neighborhood can’t believe it when they reaalize its an old grandma blasting the stereo. Its Dylan. It was always Dylan and it will always be Dylan. NO one can compare in my book.
