Feb 13: Bob Dylan & The Band @ Inglewood, LA 1974

Dylan & The Band’s first of three concerts at The Forum in Inglewood in 1974. These shows were the last of the 1974 tour.

Three (and parts of a fourth) songs from this concert were later chosen for the live album “Before The Flood“.

The Forum
Inglewood
Los Angeles, California
13 February 1974

  • Bob Dylan (vocal, guitar, harmonica)
  • Robbie Robertson (guitar)
  • Garth Hudson (organ, piano and clavinette)
  • Richard Manual (keyboards)
  • Rick Danko (bass)
  • Levon Helm (drums)

  1. Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)
  2. Lay Lady Lay
I’m also very fond of the perform<>.nce of “Lay Lady Lay” included on Before the Flood. What a great guitar player Robbie Robertson can be! So much is said between the words in this performance, it’s like Dylan’s singing (the way he stretches the word “brass,” for example) is percussive accompaniment for the lead guitar.
~Paul Williams (Bob Dylan: Performing Artist, Vol 2: The Middle Years 1974-1986)
  3. Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues
  4. Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35
“Rainy Day Women” is notable for its fine groove (credit piano and rhythm section) and the wonderful solos (guitar, organ) between the verses.
~Paul Williams (Bob Dylan: Performing Artist, Vol 2: The Middle Years 1974-1986)
  5. It Ain’t Me, Babe
  6. Ballad Of A Thin Man
  7. All Along The Watchtower
  8. Ballad Of Hollis Brown
  9. Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door
  10. She Belongs To Me
  11. The Times They Are A-Changin’
  12. Love Minus Zero/No Limit
  13. Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right
  14. Just Like A Woman
  15. It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)
    The Weight (Robbie Robertson)
  16. Forever Young
  17. Highway 61 Revisited
  18. Like A Rolling Stone

  19. Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)
  20. Blowin’ In The Wind
