Bob Dylan: 6 Brilliant live performances from the year 2003

When I got into rock ‘n’ roll, I didn’t even think I had any option or alternative. It showed me where my future was, just like some people know they are going to be doctors or lawyers or shortstop for the New York Yankees.

Oh God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”

The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
God says, “Out on Highway 61”

…and it sounded like pure, heavenly magic.  As the song drew to its conclusion Dylan returned to the microphone and re-sang the first two lines; a lovely gesture to all those who had gone into neural shock and missed them first time around. The feeling afterwards was that Dylan can say whatever he wants about his fans in interviews as long as he keeps treating us so generously onstage.
