Although originally booked for a show in West Berlin, Dylan and the Heartbreakers switch their show to this massive venue in East Berlin. Owing to the scarcity of name acts in the country, something like a hundred thousand fans attend the show, which is marred by running battles between fans and security. Some 130 fans are injured. Dylan’s set is less than an hour long, although it does feature a new arrangement of “I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine.

I was there. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers stole the show. They played before, during and AFTER Dylan’s very short show. Dylan never said a word to the audience. Petty and the boys were great, as always.
I did see a little trouble. And at one point Tom said to the audience “Hey let’s be cool. Be cool.” There was some disturbance right in front of the stage.
All in all an incredible night. I’ll never forget it.
This comment is not true:

I was at the concert. There was no problem withe security or the police.
in the afternoon the fence was opened so that everybody could go for free to the festival ground.
By the way the tickets costs 9,10 Mark.
