When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my loveWhen the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belongI’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my loveThe storms are raging on the rollin’ sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothing like me yetI could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
To make you feel my love

Heard this awesome song on cover
cd of Billy Joel ,?, and supposedly Dylan but Bob isn’t on it really, (mistake). Joel is usually pretty good but compared to Bob; well you just can’t. Bob does this song with such emotional conviction , every phrase has the tiniest infliction of Bob’s best voicing . The sincerity Bob sings his chosen word’s by is as though he really is serenading to his sweetheart and we just happen to hear it. I ‘d read sometime ago that it was written he couldn’t do a love song ; shortly after he recorded this . Well when the cd came out jaws must have dropped. Even years later on stage ( when clarity is often less ) I am still taken back . After such a serenade like this I am sure he could sell that girl swamp land in Florida. Not a big fan of love songs ; but this one really swamps me ! :- )
Back in the day when Bob used TWO HANDS on the harmonica.
Man I miss those shows…
