A very good 88-concert and the sound on the circulating soundboard tape is incredible.
It is concert #15 of the Never Ending Tour & this tour is “labeled” the Interstate 88 Tour, part 1.

From 1963 until 1967, Ballard sang on 16 Top 40 hit Supremes’ singles, ten of which hit number-one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1967, Motown CEO Berry Gordy decided to remove Ballard from the Supremes. After being dropped from the group, Ballard struggled with a solo career in the late 1960s and spent much of the last five years of her life in relative poverty. In 1976, Ballard died of cardiac arrest at the age of thirty-two. Her death has been called “one of rock’s greatest tragedies”.

some of the songs show(particuarly on the acoustic section) that even by 1988 Bob still had a voice that could be melodic and expressive. Its a shame that he chose on so many occassions during this period not to always make the effort, and sound like someone doing a bad uncomplementary impersonation of his voice.
I listened to this one yesterday. Amazing show. G.E Smith is perfect.
