I drove from Minneapolis to Mankato to see this show, and because I was familiar with the venue I zipped outside near the back door toward the end of “Rainy Day Women” and was poised with Sharpie and one of my favorite Dylan CDs to ask for his signature. As he came out and I took a step forward, a rather burly guy near Bob moved between us and I got the message. Bob walked past, 12 feet away, avoiding eye contact and adjusting his Stetson, then ascended onto the bus. I inserted my pen back into my pocket and knew what would probably be my best-ever chance for an autograph was over. But hey, it was a fine show!
