Dylan’s third album reflects his mood in August-October 1963. It is also a product for his need to live up to and expand on the role he found himself in, topical poet, the restless young man with something to say, singing to and for a new generation.

Released January 13, 1964 – 54 years ago today…  it is one of his weakest albums from the 60’s.. and still a fantastic album.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_message message_box_color=”mulled_wine” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-quote-left”]The 1988 band (Smith, Parker, Aaronson) backed Dylan at the first three shows of 1989 and at the fifth through the eighth. At the fourth show, and at every show beginning with the ninth (June 10, 1989), Kenny Aaronson, who had to return to the U.S. for health reasons, was replaced on bass by Tony Garnier, who had played with G. E. Smith in one of his former bands. In late July, Aaronson tried to get his job back, but was told by Dylan, “I’m not sure if I wanna change the band right now.” In the long run, Garnier outlasted Parker and Smith, and is still playing bass in Dylan’s touring band.

Watch Bob Dylan @ Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, Wales – October 13, 2011 (video)

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_message message_box_color=”mulled_wine” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-quote-left”]This was the most animated Dylan I have ever seen. A Dylan more at ease with himself and his audience than at any other time in the last 10 years or so. As he faced the audience and sang High Water – his face illuminated and so expressive under his wide brimmed, bright white hat, I saw (just for a second) the Dylan of the 1975 Rolling Thunder Tour. I know that he was so much older then, but he seemed younger than that last night.
