June 29: Bob Dylan – Love Sick in Rome, Italy 2015 (audience video)

bob dylan rome 2015

I’m walking through streets that are dead
Walking, walking with you in my head
My feet are so tired, my brain is so wired
And the clouds are weeping

Did I hear someone tell a lie?
Did I hear someone’s distant cry?
I spoke like a child; you destroyed me with a smile
While I was sleeping

Love Sick” is a song by Bob Dylan, recorded in January 1997 and released as the opening track on his 30th studio album Time Out of Mind in September of that year. It was released as the second single from the album in June 1998, in various CD formats some of which featured a February 25, 1998, live version of the song, from Dylan’s performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. The song was produced by Daniel Lanois.

During an off-day, Dylan and Van Morrison climbed onto the picturesque Hill of the Muses in Athens for a stunning four-song acoustic set that thankfully was captured by cameras for the BBC documentary Arena: One Irish Rover – Van Morrison in Performances. They began with Morrison classics “Crazy Love” and “And It Stoned Me,” but the clear highlight was the 1986 Morrison obscurity “Foreign Window,” featuring Dylan on harmonica and Van on guitar and vocals. They wrapped up the set with a duet on “One Irish Rover.”

They’re painting the passports brown
The beauty parlor is filled with sailors
The circus is in town
Here comes the blind commissioner
They’ve got him in a trance
One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker
The other is in his pants
And the riot squad they’re restless
They need somewhere to go
As Lady and I look out tonight

“Dylan’s probably my biggest hero as an artist, songwriter and singer”
– Kris Kristofferson

We have chosen to take a look into the relationship between Kris Kristofferson and Bob Dylan, and as expected it is harder to find quotes from Dylan than Kristofferson.

Dylan and Kristofferson go back a long time. Kris Kristofferson was a janitor in a Nashville studio when Dylan was recording Blonde on Blonde in 1966. They both appeared in the 1973 film “Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid” and they have recorded and performed each others’ material. Dylan covered Kristofferson’s  They Killed Him on his album,  Knocked Out Loaded.

June 22: Bob Dylan – Can’t Wait, Milan, Italy 2011 (video)

bob dylan milan june 2011

I can’t wait, wait for you to change your mind
It’s late, I’m trying to walk the line
Well, it’s way past midnight and there are people all around
Some on their way up, some on their way down
The air burns and I’m trying to think straight
And I don’t know how much longer I can wait

Absolutely stunning version!

….next he did an absolutely superb version of ‘Can’t Wait’. Lights were back on and Bob was  walking back and forth across the stage with only the mike and his voice; ‘ I can’t I can’t I can’t I can’t wait’, sung with amazing passion. I hope all get to hear the brilliance of this moment.
