Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and John Prine on the ‘Bobby Bare and Friends’ TV show back in 1985.

Bobby Bare: Considering you’ve seen everywhere in this vast wide country…where is favorite place?
Ramblin’ Jack Elliott: …right there in the front seat of my motor home…movin’.

The whole show is fantastic, and the interviews mention snippets about Bob Dylan several times. John Prine tells about how he ended up buying his first Dylan record.

There is also a nice anecdote from Jack remembering a time when he and Bob Dylan were shown an ‘after hours’ bar in Greenwich Village and includes the tell-tale line: “And some stranger, perfect stranger, who probably didn’t know who Bob was, and so Bob was very comfortable with him…”.

Another highlight is the part where Bobby Bare plays Kris Kristofferson’s song about Elliott to him. Priceless!

Alison Maria Krauss (born July 23, 1971), American bluegrass-country singer-songwriter and musician. She entered the music industry at an early age, winning local contests by the age of ten and recording for the first time at fourteen. She signed with Rounder Records in 1985 and released her first solo album in 1987. She was invited to join the band with which she still performs, Alison Krauss and Union Station.

Alison Krauss helped bring bluegrass to a new audience in the ’90s. Blending bluegrass with folk, Krauss was instantly acclaimed from the start of her career, but it wasn’t until her platinum-selling 1995 compilation Now That I’ve Found You that she became a mainstream star. (Allmusic)

She has been part of the country music scene for 30 years now. Her output is constantly good and she is true to her musical vision. I really love Alison Krauss, with and without Union Station.

Donald Hugh “Don” Henley (born July 22, 1947, in Gilmer, Texas) is an American singer, songwriter and drummer, best known as a founding member of the Eagles before launching a successful solo career. Henley was the drummer and lead vocalist for the Eagles from 1971–1980, when the band broke up. Henley sings lead vocals on Eagles hits such as “Witchy Woman”, “Desperado”, “Best of My Love”, “One of These Nights”, “Hotel California”, “Life in the Fast Lane”, and “The Long Run”. He and Glenn Frey formed one of the most successful songwriting partnerships in music history.

We saw Eagles a few weeks ago in Lucca, Italy, and they were very, very good, and so much better than those latest DVD releases tells us. Eagles in Lucca were playful and fun, they had a good time and so did we. Don Henley ages with grace.
