“There must be some way out of here,” said the joker to the thief
“There’s too much confusion, I can’t get no relief
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth”

April 27: Bob Dylan – The 15th Infidels recording session in 1983

…..I did the album, and I call it that, but what it means is for other people to interpret, you know, if it means something to them. Infidels is a word that’s in the dictionary and whoever it applies to… to everybody on the album, every character. Maybe it’s all about infidels.
~Bob Dylan (to Kurt Loder in March 1984)

Foot of Pride:

“Bob’s musical ability is limited, in terms of being able to play a guitar or a piano,….. It’s rudimentary, but it doesn’t affect his variety, his sense of melody, his singing. It’s all there. In fact, some of the things he plays on piano while he’s singing are lovely, even though they’re rudimentary. That all demonstrates the fact that you don’t have to be a great technician. It’s the same old story: If something is played with soul, that’s what’s important.
~Mark Knopfler

“I’ve made shoes for everyone, even you, while I still go barefoot”
~Bob Dylan (from “I and I”)

I’ve tried to find songs written by Bob Dylan, performed by Bob Dylan with The Stones or members of The Stones. I have also included covers of Dylan songs done by present or former members of Rolling Stones. In addition I have included a video of Dylan singing Brown Sugar.

There are also a few songs by other artists but performed with Bob Dylan and a member of Stones.

If you guys out there know some more, please include them in the comments.

Enjoy!

rolling stones perth 1973

The Stones were at the top of their game in 1973… one of the best tours ever.On Feb 24 1973 they played Western Australia Cricket Ground in Perth, Australia, and a great sounding “stereo soundboard” bootleg turned up.. in 1987.

The Rolling Stones Pacific Tour 1973

Associated album Exile on Main St.
Start date 18 January 1973
End date 27 February 1973

The Rolling Stones Pacific Tour 1973 was a concert tour of countries bordering the Pacific Ocean in January and February 1973 by The Rolling Stones. The tour is sometimes referred to as the Winter Tour 1973. However this title is misleading, as much of it took place in the Southern Hemisphere, where it was summer at the time.

“I don’t really think in terms of obstacles. My biggest obstacle is always myself.”

All we do as songwriters is rewrite the songs that have impressed us till we find our own voice. It’s part of learning the craft.
